Listing is for a Remco 1964 Hamilton's Invaders Rocket Gun Pistol Dart Grenade Yellow Shaft.
Back in 1964, Remco attempted to capitalize on the Sci-Fi craze of the
1950s when it released the Hamilton's Invaders series. The
basic idea is that HUGE, UGLY BUGS have invaded earth...what are the mere
humans to do? There were various "almost neon colored" bugs
attacking blue molded soldiers - who drove tanks and other misc.
"military" vehicles. The line also included child sized helmets and
darts - we assume the idea was to "insert" yourself into the action - set
up the aliens and 'blow' them away with your dart gun while wearing your
protective helmet. Released by Remco. It's interesting to note that
the line did not do very well and, toy companies being what they are and
not wanting to waste the tooling, recycled these pistols, along with a
helmet, for a Star Trek line in 1967. WHAT these have to do with Star Trek
we have no idea!
