GI Joe Clone 1960s Marx Stony
Smith Old Store Stock Pants Jacket Buddy Charlie
Listing is for a GI Joe Clone 1960s Marx Stony Smith Old Store Stock
Pants Jacket Buddy Charlie.
This is an outfit for the 1960's GI Joe clone by Louis Marx. Most GI Joe
knock offs were put out by small, low end companies. This is the rare
exception as Marx was a very large toy company that had been around
decades before Hasbro had even begun. Marx originally tried to compete
with Joe with Stony Smith - the Paratrooper. But Stony was different from
Joe in that his "clothes" were simply molded and part of his "body". These
didn't sell well at all and all 4 Buddy Charlie servicemen are incredibly
scarce to find today!
It's strange that Marx also marketed this clothes set - as, previously
mentioned, Stony ceame with molded clothes. They didn't make too many of
them - they're pretty scarce today.
